Concert Playing and How To Get Rid of Stage Fright

     Hello everyone!

So yesterday was the day that I had been both dreading and looking forward to in a long time.. Concert Festival. Concert Festival is where you go with your band and play two selections and are scored based on the performance of those two pieces. We played relatively well, other than dynamics and a few pitch problems, but otherwise we had straight "I"s (The highest score). So right before I got on the stage and before the first note, I was terrified. I thought for sure I was going to mess up. However, once we had the first note started it was all fine! I was okay. So here, I'm going to give you some advice on how to get rid of stage fright!

How To Get Rid of Stage Fright:

  1. Try not to think about it.
Yes, this one seems pretty obvious, but just act like it's a rehearsal and no one is watching.

      2. Breathe.
Yes, this is another obvious one, but try and keep your breathing steady and slow. It can really help.

       3. Don't look at the audience.
This one may sound weird but, try not focusing on the amount of people present. Instead try and focus slightly above them whether it be a press box, or just a wall.

Song of The Week:

What has you spooked about performing?

Answer of The Week:
Usually screwing up.
